How spatial_gradient() should compute the gradient

GEOSPATIAL corrects the raw Cartesian gradient by the map projection scale factors (see get_projection_correction_factors()) so that it is with respect to true geographic distance. CARTESIAN returns the raw, uncorrected gradient with respect to the (nominal) grid spacing.
