This section of the module introduces techniques for analysing ecological acoustic data using R.
The practicals include:
Loading and visualising ecological acoustic data as spectrograms.
Calculating ecological acoustic indices from acoustic data and comparing values through time and between sites.
Using acoustic classifiers such as BirdNET to identify species from acoustic data for use in looking at species diversity and activity patterns.
Practical data¶
The practicals use two sets of acoustic data recorded as a series of WAV format files. Both sets of recordings were made at dawn in two locations:
Monks Wood - a woodland National Nature Reserve in Cambridgeshire.
