The Research Computing Service’s RDS is a secure and scalable space for all your research data.
There are two ways to share data from the RDS with other users at Imperial:
- The preferred method is to place the data in a project allocation. Allocations must be created by a grant-holding member of staff, who is then able to give access to selected users. Project allocations can be accessed directly from the compute service login nodes and batch jobs, or mounted as a network drive from your own computer (in the same way as your home folder).
- Users in the same access group (as indicated by running
id -gn
or by visiting this page while connected to the VPN) have access to files in each other’s home directories and ephemeral space, as long as the files and their containing directories have “group read” permissions. See Sharing Data on our Data Management page for more information.
If you wish to share data with users outside Imperial then you can use Globus.
